Lecturer Nursing Science Health Science - South Africa

COREPURPOSEOFJOB

The purpose of the post is to facilitate and administer the learning process for students in theoretical and practical modules as presented by the Nelson Mandela University Nursing Science Department at under- and post-graduate level, to participate in research, to contribute to the academic and community engagement as well as being involved in the core functions of the University.

KEYPERFORMANCE AREAS

1. Sound knowledge of the theory and application in relevant disciplines in Nursing
2. Experience in facilitation of teaching and learning activities and practices at under- and/or post- graduate academic and clinical programs.
3. Contribute to curriculum development and implementation at under- and/or post-graduate level.
4. Contribute to research within Nursing Science.
5. Create knowledge through research and publications.
6. Establish a national reputation in own field of expertise through collaboration, consultation and involvement in policy processes or projects.
7. Research supervision, and involvement in faculty research projects, inter professional education. involvement.

CORECOMPETENCIES

1. Application of diverse teaching and learning methodologies for under- and relevant post-graduate programs.
2. Experience in facilitation of teaching and learning at under- and/or post-graduate levels.
3. Knowledge of research theory and applications in Nursing Science.
4. Knowledge of curriculum development and implementation at under- and/or post-graduate levels.
5. Co-supervising post-graduate research candidates (Masters and Honours, postgraduate programs).
6. Contribute to the development and implementation of Short Learning Programs or other Continuous Development Programs.
7. Contribute to seminars and/or other research outputs.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Masters degree in Nursing Science.

Registration with SANC as a registered nurse and midwife Registration with SANC as a Nurse Educator.

Registration with SANC as an Advanced Midwife and Neonatal Nurse

Registration with SANC as an assessor and moderator.

Experience and skills

Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in higher education or related nurse training institutions

Minimum of five (5) years relevant clinical work experience. Evidence of postgraduate research supervision will be an advantage.

Previous experience in developing new learning and teaching material on a postgraduate level will be an added advantage
