Reference: JHB000071-MDB-1 Seeking a Qualified Foundry Maintenance Technician (hands on millwright) for our client based in the West rand Responsibilities: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on foundry equipment, including furnaces, molds, casting machines, and other machinery. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime. Conduct inspections to identify and address potential equipment failures or safety hazards. Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, control systems, and related equipment. Fabricate and modify parts as needed using tools and machinery. Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs of all work performed. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure efficient and effective operations. Follow safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Assist with the planning and execution of equipment upgrades and new installations. Provide training and guidance to junior maintenance staff as needed. Requirements: - Experience Proven hands-on experience as a millwright in a foundry or similar industrial environment. - Technical Skills Strong knowledge of both mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair. Proficiency with tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair tasks. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Skilled in welding, machining, and fabrication. Certifications Journeyman Millwright certification or equivalent. Electrical certification or extensive experience in electrical maintenance. Physical Requirements : Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces. Comfortable working in a foundry environment with exposure to heat, dust, and noise. – Communication Skills Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with team members and other departments. Problem-Solving Skills Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience with PLCs and other automated control systems. Familiarity with predictive maintenance techniques.
