PURPOSE OF THE ROLE As a National Production Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our meat production operations. You will be responsible for managing the entire production process, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to safety standards. An ability to effectively interact at a Senior leadership level with confidence, impact, and influence is a key attribute. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise and coordinate all aspects of meat production, including procurement, processing, packaging, and distribution at all the production sites (Bloemfontein, Pretoria, Eastern & Western Cape). Develop and implement production plans to meet quality, quantity, and delivery targets. Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company standards. Optimize production workflows to maximize efficiency and minimize waste. Train and mentor production employees to maintain high performance and productivity levels. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance, maintenance, and logistics, to resolve production-related issues and drive continuous improvement. Maintain accurate production records and reports for performance analysis and decision-making. You will oversee the People Operations (HR), Financial, Warehousing & Distribution operations together with the B2B commercial aspects of the Company in collaboration with the executive leadership of each business unit. Playing a critical role in the retail operations strategy within the Company relating to red meat. You will also be a key member of the Leadership team in formulating the overall strategic objectives and business goals. Ability to build supplier relationships and facilitate product development strategy within the group or through 3rd parties suppliers. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Meat Science, or a related field (will be an advantage). Proven experience in meat production or food manufacturing. A minimum of 10 years in a senior red meat production role. Willing to travel extensively. COMPETENCIES REQUIRED High-level involvement in business strategies either at the Senior level. The ability to be a specialist advisor on production and red meat to the Executive team. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a commitment to ensuring product quality and safety. Understanding of regulatory requirements related to food production, hygiene, and sanitation. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful production strategies. Proficiency in data analysis and production technology. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong project management and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Passion for consumer goods and a drive to succeed in a competitive FMCG market and red meat. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbal).
