Materials Estimator - Pretoria
Are you a detail-oriented individual with a knack for numbers and an interest in the woodworking industry? My clients' state-of-the-art woodworking factory, specializing in high-quality custom furniture and wooden products, is seeking a Materials Estimating Clerk to join their team.
Job Description:
The Materials Estimating Clerk will play a crucial role in our production process, ensuring that they have accurate estimates for materials needed for each project. You will work closely with the design team, production managers, and procurement department to calculate quantities, costs, and lead times for various materials such as wood, hardware, and finishes.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine material requirements.
Calculate dimensions, quantities, and costs of materials needed for production.
Collaborate with suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and delivery schedules.
Prepare detailed material estimates for projects of varying complexity.
Maintain an updated database of material costs and suppliers.
Assist in inventory management to ensure materials are available when needed.
Work with the production team to refine estimates based on actual usage data.
Contribute to improving the efficiency and accuracy of the estimating process.
Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in a relevant field (e.g., woodworking, construction management, business administration) is preferred.
Previous experience in materials estimating, procurement, or a similar role in the woodworking or construction industry is an asset.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy.
Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Previous experience in a Woodworking and or Shopfitting environment would be beneficial
