Our client, a leading FMCG manufacturing concern with over 110 years of experience in South Africa is looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to your their team in Epping Industrial in Cape Town. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: To ensure all mechanical maintenance activities are carried out. Also, to ensure departmental goals and targets are achieved. Ensure that all plant, equipment, and activities comply to occupational health & safety regulations and procedures. MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: • Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements • Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems • Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components • Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery • Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine • Keep the working environment free from hazards and check that all equipment is in good working order. Identify and report potential hazards in line with standard operating procedures • Good housekeeping practices are applied, the production area is clean and tidy at all times and compliance is ensured i.e. clean as you go • Adhere to all relevant SOP's • Adhere to GMP requirements. • Ensure that are familiar with all company policies. • Ensure adherence to all company policies. • Ensure that all mandatory safety inspections are conducted, in accordance with the requirements of the OSH Act (Act 85 of 1993) and regulations. Planned Maintenance: • Carry out daily machine running inspections, identify possible component failure and report. • Carry out planned maintenance as per schedules provided. • Review schedules and recommend alterations and or improvements to schedules as may be required. • Ensure that all lubrication of all rolling elements is done in accordance to good maintenance practices. • If any defects are detected during maintenance tasks, ensure that repairs are done to good maintenance practices. No “quick fixes”. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Qualified Mechanical Artisan (Trade Test Certificate) • Knowledge of Planned and Preventative Maintenance System • Good understanding of the SANPRO and Baby Care manufacturing process and production machinery and its components • Knowledge of OSH Act and Regulations • World Class Manufacturing will be beneficial • A high level of problem solving and troubleshooting experience • Good understanding of the manufacturing process and production machinery and its components • Understanding the implications and consequences of maintenance practices on achieving agreed uptime standards and product quality and customer satisfaction • Knowledge and application of relevant safety, health and environmental legislation to ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards. • Good understanding of preventative maintenance practices • Willing to work shifts.
