Mechanical Lead Engineer - Pretoria
Job Description:
Build and manage a top-tier mechanical design team, providing essential technical guidance and mentorship
Collaborate with customers to understand their project requirements and effectively allocate design resources; delegate tasks according to project needs
Oversee and manage project schedules, address any deviations, and ensure that designs adhere to all specifications and standards
Lead both internal and external design reviews to validate technical accuracy and ensure alignment with project objectives
Carry out CAD design responsibilities, including 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation, while maintaining precise product data in PDM systems
Assist with custom order engineering requests, prioritize project tasks, and handle administrative responsibilities such as performance evaluations
Meet team objectives, foster high employee satisfaction, and achieve positive feedback from customers on project deliverables
Ensure projects stay on track with timelines, minimize delays, and make the most efficient use of resources
Address design issues, ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards, and enhance design accuracy
Participate in leadership development programs, improve planning techniques, and focus on continuous skill improvement and best practices in design and project management
Skills & Experience:
7 to 10 years of post-graduate experience in engineering design, ideally within the automotive sector
Open to international travel for varying durations as required by project needs
Perform CAD design duties, including 3D modeling and producing 2D drawings
Ensure precise management of product data within customer PDM systems
Qualification:
B Eng, BSc or BTech degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
