Millwright - Atlantis
Main Purpose of the Job:
Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for operating and maintaining plant and equipment to ensure minimal production downtime, maximum equipment lifespan, and production of quality wooden products.
Minimum Requirements:
South African Citizen
NTC3 in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
Qualified Millwright (Section 13)
5+ years of work experience in maintenance and manufacturing (post-trade test)
Willingness to perform stand-by/callout duties, night and rotation shifts, and work overtime as required
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Ability to distinguish between a full range of colours to work with electrical wires
Proficiency in using graphic instructions like blueprints, schematic drawings, and layouts
Ability to make precise arm-hand positioning movements
Capability to lift arms above shoulder level and work in ceiling areas
Comfort working in small, cramped areas and at heights greater than ten feet
Ability to remain in a standing position for extended periods
Capacity to work in various environmental conditions with exposure to heat and dust elements
Ability to move heavy objects with proper equipment
Key Performance Areas (inclusive but not limited to):
Conduct safety inspections on production equipment and machinery
Recommend equipment or spare replacements/repairs
Ensure minimum stock levels on critical spares and order as needed
Assist in planning and implementing project work
Monitor and improve line outputs/optimization of production lines
Attend to mechanical and electrical faults/breakdowns, document root cause analysis and countermeasures
Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment
Operate in accordance with safe work procedures
Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly workplace (5S)
Perform other legal and reasonable duties as instructed
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures for mechanical and electrical infrastructure
Technical aptitude for fault-finding and repairing mechanical and electrical breakdowns
Proficiency in root cause analysis and preventative action
Ability to follow clear instructions and planned maintenance procedures
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Afrikaans
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Systematic, neat, and methodical approach
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Self-motivated, disciplined, and enthusiastic with high levels of drive and energy
