Reference: NCM001828-MAR-1 Millwright from the FMCG Sector in South Africa This is a 4 month contract vacancy for South African Candidates Key Responsibilities: Repair and Maintenance: Repair equipment failures to restore functionality. Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance. Conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurrence of failures. Complete job cards promptly, capturing all relevant information. Inspection and Safety: Perform daily inspections on machines, reporting any defects. Ensure all equipment is made safe before commencing work and that safety equipment is always functional. Decision Making: Determine necessary parts replacements and any additional work required. Identify additional activities to improve performance. Support to Production: Assist the production team with machine start-ups and set-ups each morning. Organize and pre-plan maintenance activities to repair plant machinery. Training and Supervision: Direct and train workers to install and maintain mechanical/electrical equipment. Diagnostic and Repair Work: Inspect, operate, and test machinery to diagnose malfunctions. Conduct maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and apparatus. Follow Standard Operating Procedures for electrical system repairs. Continuous Improvement: Identify and suggest new approaches or best practices to foster continuous improvement. Additional Duties: Perform tasks such as repairing spiral freezer blockages, mechanical fitting work, replacing bearings and shafts, fixing motors, addressing gearbox failures, and more. Conduct welding (TIG and arc) and operate basic machinery like lathe, hydraulic press, drill press, and plate bender. Compliance and Quality: Adhere to Health and Safety requirements, relevant legislation, and company policies during maintenance repairs on production lines. Ensure ongoing implementation and improvement of Quality and Food Safety systems. Qualifications: Educational Requirements: Grade 12 or N3 – N6 or NCV Technical qualifications Millwright Trade Test Wireman's licence Knowledge: Conveyor belts, wire meshes, modular belts, and bearings Mechanical/electrical tools and operating production lines Basic fitting knowledge Ammonia and glycol plant operations PLCs and VSDs machinery AC and DC machines Boilers and air compressors Ovens, flow wrappers, cooking pots, cuber machines, tumbler machines, X-rays, metal detectors, pie lines, spiral freezers, mixers, and vacuum pumps Food safety and hygiene requirements Different types of lubricants Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements Skills: Problem-solving skills Good listening skills Teamwork ability Strong communication skills Attention to detail 2 - 5 years' experience as an Artisan in the FMCG industry If we have not contacted you within 10 working days of your application then you have not been shortlisted for this specific vacancy.
