This person will be responsible for planning and implementation of preventative maintenance activities and provide emergency breakdown response; will coordinate the maintenance team's daily activities; will coordinate any major equipment repairs or maintenance interventions with third party Contractors on behalf of the Client; while striving to optimize the annual cost of maintenance of the plants under their control. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary goal: To supervise and manage the planning and implementation of preventative maintenance activities and performing emergency breakdown response on plant and equipment. Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for plant maintenance. Establish schedules and methods for preventative maintenance. Identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly. Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures. Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives. Perform the more technical and complex tasks of the maintenance work. Manage spares inventory and lubricants stock levels. Maintenance / breakdown troubleshooting, data evaluation and interpretation. Respond appropriately and decisively during plant emergencies. Writing of monthly maintenance reports. Submit justification for system or facilities repair or expansion. Coordinate major equipment repairs or maintenance interventions with designated third party maintenance Contractors to minimize disruption of plant processes. Participate in the selection of plant maintenance staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures. Ensure health and safety legislation and contractual obligations pertaining to health & safety are adhered to. Ensure total confidentiality of all information, internal and external, pertaining to the business of the Company. REQUIRED COMPETENCE: Trade tested Millwright with minimum NQF4 qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering, red seal certificate will be an advantage. Eight or more years of experience as a Millwright in water and/or wastewater treatment plants with detailed knowledge of water treatment equipment and instrumentation maintenance and calibration. Experience in managing a maintenance team. Ability to prepare and submit maintenance reports. Required to perform work outside normal working hours, during emergencies and planned overtime.
