A company in Cape Town is looking for an Operations Manager to join their team. Lead the Operations team by example, setting and inspiring the highest standards of integrity and performance. Contribute to developing the manufacturing strategy and execute the tactical plans through the team that will make it a reality. Monitor and measure KPIs as defined in Key Business Processes and make necessary corrections to ensure we deliver on our commitments and achieve our objectives. Coach, mentor and train team members to ensure that the skills required to deliver are developed and practiced. Review individual team member performance, address performance gaps, implement development plans and ensure succession for key roles. Translate production targets into an annual budget that aligns with the trajectory of the overall business Strategic Objectives. Lead the team to innovate and apply the technology required to continuously improve the product quality and the plant efficiency, capability and capacity that will deliver the Strategic Objectives. Work cross-functionally to ensure that the overall business objectives are met (capacity, technology, risk, materials availability, planning, new product launch, etc). Ensure that the facility and equipment are maintained and improved to world class standards that will enable retention and growth of customer base. Ensure that the operation works to eliminate hazards identified to ensure compliance with OH&S Act and that lost time injuries are avoided. Ensure that all Legal, Quality (ISO9001) and Product Safety (BRCGS) requirements are complied with as a minimum standard (as measured by an unannounced audit). Tertiary Qualification (preferably a degree in engineering with postgraduate management studies). Track record of 8 to 10 years delivering results in a manufacturing team with at least 5 years managing the operations function. Excellent leadership skills with proven ability to lead and grow teams that deliver high performance. Experience implementing an Operations Strategy that successfully delivered the objectives of a global operation. Experience implementing and maintaining Management Systems (such as ISO 9001 and/ or BRCGS). Experience delivering continuous improvement and plant automation projects. Experience managing discipline and grievances in an operations environment. Excellent interpersonal skills – verbal , written, listening and questioning. Excellent problem-solving, decision making, planning and organising skills. Strong accountability and goal orientation. Strong project management experience.
