Epol is currently seeking an Operations Manager to join the leadership team at our Vaalwater Mill. Role Purpose: Epol is currently seeking an Operations Manager to join the leadership team at our Vaalwater Mill in the Limpopo Province. The Talent Acquisition Team is currently recruiting for someone who will be trusted to ensure operational management of an integrated feed mill operation and manage production, engineering, and any on site contractors. Minimum Requirements: 3 year Degree or Diploma, preferably in Engineering or Operations Management. A Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) may be required. 6 Years' experience in a production environment. Experience in the Management of Unionized workforce. Working knowledge on MS Office. Key Responsibilities: Provides input into Business Unit strategy (AFE), based on a 5-year view of requirements by keeping up to date with the latest trends and developments in feed production and engineering. Provides input to annual functional “Strategy into action and executes annual objectives for Operations department. Provides input and contributes to the relationship between cross functional mill management team ensuring service delivery. Provides input into National Operations Team by keeping up to date with the latest trends and developments in feed production and engineering. Ensuring Operations and Asset Management balance to achieve FM Excellence. Operations Management Drives Operations asset productivity through agreed KPIs and efficiencies. Reports on a weekly basis on actual Operations KPI's versus budget and works with team to address the areas of nonconformance or concern proactively and timeously. Drives Operations appearance and image through housekeeping, frontline customer, and supplier interaction. Oversight of Unitrans outbound on a day-to-day basis. Asset Management Drives Operations sustainable asset care through planned maintenance and management of capex spend. Drives Project Management principles within Operations. Implement, develop and review outputs of On Key. Raw Materials and Finished Goods Management Responds to Operations factors that cause raw material stock variances against target levels and initiates plans to manage any losses. Manages Operations milling loss factors and initiates plans to reduce these losses. Responds to Operations factors that cause finished goods stock variances against target levels and initiates plans to manage any losses – Bags and/or Bulk. Sustainability and Environmental Management Measures and manages sustainability practices within area of responsibility. Supplies Info timeously and verifies Info on Sustainability Report. Implementation and Monitoring of Sustainability Report Targets. Environmental Legal Compliance. Management of Safety Health Risk and Quality Guides the Operations team to ensure that all legislative and Industry standards are achieved, and timeous action is taken where required to ensure that there are no areas of non compliance. Follows up on requirements for compliance ensuring that it is continuously maintained and adhered to. Drives Operational occupational health and safety compliance to all relevant legal requirements – 16.2 and GMR2 appointee. Chairs and or facilitates regular Safety meetings and ensure that action points are defined and delivered upon. Suggests amendments to policies and practices within Business Unit and Milling as a whole to ensure that these are kept up to date and are aligned with company objectives and standards. Drives the adherence and maintenance of ISO 9000/22 000/14 000/ 18 000 standards within the Total Integrated Management System throughout Operations. Ensure that documentation required within the Total Integrated Management system, is applied consistently throughout Operations. Drives inbound, outbound and in–process quality control in line with the supply chain and external customer requirements throughout Operations. Ensures site and manufacturing process meet Feed safety standards. Customer Service Management Manages customer service through demand vs. capacity planning (Mill and Fleet). Provides Leadership Leads Operations team towards meeting strategy and targets – through regular communication and utilization of full organizational talent management tool set. Manages and delivers on Operations succession plans to enable the development of a future generation of leaders and specialists and ensure optimal turnover and retention levels are maintained. Implements Employment Equity within the Operations team to ensure that diversity is achieved at all levels and that statutory targets and requirements are met under section 24 of the Employment Equity Act. Manages training and development of Operations team through utilizing available training opportunities or contributing to the development of new training solutions in collaboration with regional and national training specialists. Conducts regular performance appraisals with subordinates and ensure that the process is cascaded throughout the Operations team. Conducts Operations meetings and ensure that records are kept and shared across the team and that action plans agreed to within team meetings are delivered upon. Ensures all other relevant Operations meetings take place. Manages employee relations climate and ensure corrective action is taken where required in line with relevant legislation and company policy. Financial Management Reports on and manages all input costs within Operations and manage any budget over or under spend appropriately to ensure that issues are addressed before significant financial loss occurs. Authorizes Operations expenses within level of authority and monitor spending activity within teams to ensure compliance to financial and ethical standards. Implements and encourages cost cutting initiatives within the Operations department where these do not impact on long term business sustainability. Compiles CAPEX documentation in line with Mill Strategy, taking into account return on investment and sustainability requirements – ensures payback is achieved. Manages external supplier relationships and contracts in collaboration with the procurement team to ensure agreed service levels are met. Apply Now
