An international packaging group is seeking the expertise of an experienced person to join their team as a Buyer of packaging. Flexible packaging will be the main category, but other types of packaging will be included in the function. A suitable candidate could be from the buying, cost estimating or production planning functions.
Requirements
- Suitable formal qualification will be an advantage
- Knowledge of flexible packaging will be an advantage
- A minimum of 3 years in the packaging industry
- Ideally from estimating, production planning or purchasing background
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented, highly accurate, organized working methods
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
Responsibilities
- Assist the Financial Manager in sourcing packaging from pre-approved manufacturing sites globally.
- Evaluate and compare proposals and select the best option.
- Ensure that the best possible value is obtained by optimizing production and logistics efficiencies.
- Prepare and process purchase orders and ensure that all relevant documentation is accurate and complete.
- Monitor factory performance and ensure that all deliveries are made on time.
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise with suppliers, vendors, or clients.
- Maintain technical master files on the ERP system.
- Ensure that stock in warehouse and on ERP system is accurate.
- Create Product Specifications, master COC and DOC documents.
- Consult with Sales regarding client forecasts and updating the forecasting model.
- Represent the company at industry associations such as The SA Plastics Pact and to keep abreast of industry developments.
