Key Responsibilities:

  • Salaries and Wages / VIP Payroll Full Function:
    • Input on the payslip screen:
      • Load new employees
      • Fixed earnings
      • Once-off earnings
      • Earning adjustments
      • Pro-rata earnings
      • Hourly input earnings
      • Correcting hours
    • Fixed deductions:
      • Once-off deductions
      • Amount and balance deductions
      • Deductions with sub-screens
    • Processing a private retirement annuity perks tax
      • Shifts
    • Batches:
      • Capture and update batches
      • Verify and update batches
    • Terminations:
      • Termination procedure
      • Terminating an employee
      • Termination lumpsums
    • Balancing variable input
    • Reconciling 3rd party payments, preparing, loading monthly statutory payments for PAYE, UIF, SDL, EMP201, IRP5 and submission, EMP501
    • Payroll records:
      • Preparing monthly salary report
      • Company reconciliation report
      • 12 months report
      • Variance report
      • Transaction list report
      • Remuneration list report
      • Period analysis report
      • E&D list report
      • External payment report
    • Stop further entry
    • Proficient with Employee Self Service System
    • Printing a payslip
    • ACB export
    • UIF submission
    • Making a back-up
    • Start of period procedure
    • Preparing salaries including overtime, commission, bonusses, etc.
    • Loading of salaries for payment via EFT payments
    • National Bargaining Council for the Road Freight Industry: submitting monthly leave, holiday pay, sick leave, bonus payments, Provident Fund NBCRFI, Old Mutual, MIBCO
    • Yearly completion of Tax Year End with VIP consultant

Qualifications and Skills:

Knowledge of certain Legislation Criteria:
  • BCEA
    • General
    • Regulation of working time
      • Overtime on weekdays and Saturdays
      • Pay for work on Sundays
      • Pay for public holidays
    • Leave
      • Leave entitlement
      • Wage versus remuneration BCEA leave payments
    • Statutory returns
      • Skills Development Act:
        • Abbreviation and contribution
      • Unemployment Insurance Act:
        • Abbreviation and contribution
      • Occupation Injuries and Disease Act:
        • Submission and reporting of all accidents
      • EMP201:
        • Content and submission
      • Understanding of the Total Cost to Employer
      • Understanding the definition of Retirement Funding income:
        • Provident funds and Pension funds
        • Application on the payroll
        • Linking of RFI method
      • Bargaining Council knowledge will be an advantage
      • Must have 4 years VIP experience
      • Must know ODBC
      • Must work to strict deadlines and work well under pressure
      • Minimum Grade 12
      • Good communication skills
      • Must be computer literate
      • Training in Excel will be an advantage
      • Self-starter
      • Needs to be extremely well-organised, accurate and meticulous
      • Sage 300 experience will be an advantage
