Responsibility and accountability for the purchase of goods and services, to ensure that the company's operational needs are met, considering the price, quality, turnaround times, BBBEE, risk management, and delivery to ensure continuity of supply. Likely to have people and budget responsibility or be responsible for entire vehicle build platforms. Responsible for purchasing strategy, policy, and processes if the most senior role in the organisation. Strategy and Development Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice procurement vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance General and Task Management Ensure that purchasing policies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality, and delivery targets Create and review opportunities to implement best practice supply chain policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance and deliver the best value and business savings Evaluate supply chain challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities Ensure purchasing policy, guidelines and any associated documents are in place and updated when required Utilise appropriate resources including Supplier Development to ensure appropriate supplier partnerships and delivery of sourced products. Develop creative and innovative procurement processes (eProcurement) Provide management reports and key performance data and Identify cost-saving opportunities Manage relationships with suppliers/service providers and select and develop new suppliers Negotiate and manage contract terms with suppliers to ensure value for money, quality standards, and delivery terms with technical and operational input from stakeholders and colleagues Negotiate SLA with all suppliers and service providers Managed disputes between internal user departments and contracted suppliers Manage the onboarding process of all new suppliers within agreed parameters and maintain the supplier database on an ongoing basis including undertaking periodic workshops to communicate FHS way (principles, values, etc Review and negotiate existing agreements to optimise commercial terms. Review RFQ specifications and ensure compliance to same, including developing delivery schedules for submission with the tender and managing same upon award work with suppliers, and having a process in place to measure effective performance, quality, and compliance. Measure against KPI criteria if these exist Ensure items are sourced in full and aligned to production schedules and customer/ user requirements Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors Develop supplier engagement initiatives and manage the implementation process, including periodic workshops and road shows to promote the FHS-way Ensure compliance with BBBEE requirements on ED, SD and procurement spend Assist organisational departments in drafting the scope of work and specifications for the procurement of services and goods ( defining requirements and compiling specifications) including compiling the budget Undertake business development initiatives that seek to identify new supplier partnerships to improve delivery turnaround times, and minimise disruptions to the organisations' supply chain while improving competitiveness Sourcing, negotiation of pricing, placement of orders, managing the logistics of each order from start to finish in conjunction with other departments Manage and coordinate pre-delivery inspections in conjunction with the technical team. Manage Supplier performance and QAQC of products ordered Manage the handover process to the user departments/ client Manage and coordinate the resale process i.e. auction etc. Manage lead times including compiling delivering schedules and providing updates on an ongoing basis Identify supply chain risks and propose mitigating factors and alternative/ interim solutions People Management Manage, coach, and develop high-performing purchasing and cost estimating teams that meet agreed objectives and which deliver best practice results, added value, and continuous improvements Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff, and visitors Financial Budget and Control Input to and hold responsibility for department budget Relationship Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance Work collaboratively, negotiate, and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the organisation's supply chain strategy Communicate with stakeholders the impact of market change and potential effects on supply. Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimising cost Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and services and advise of any impact Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Purchasing activities Assist Senior Management in ensuring effective relationships with client businesses through maintaining an appropriate interface between procurement and suppliers Self-Management Comply with the Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies Proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere Anticipates and overcomes obstacles Makes useful links to arrive at insightful plans and solutions Embraces personal challenge. Confident, rounded thinking Takes ownership of team cohesion and development Is self-aware Is resilient, optimistic, and open to change Has an Adult: Adult, collaborative approach to others Self-motivated and able to work well under pressure Grade 12) National Diploma/ Degree in Procurement/ Logistics or similar CIPS, CPSM, or other relevant procurement certification preferred Minimum five years of proven experience in a purchasing management role, preferably within an automotive, transportation, and logistics environment Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements Contract management and supplier experience Project management experience Knowledge and technical understanding of automotive processes and components and supply chain management. Computer literate, especially Excel skills General knowledge of Legislations (BBBEE, PFMA, MFMA, PPPFA, etc) People Person, Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills, Data Analysis, Superior Organisational Skills, Good Business Instincts, Mathematics Skills, Strong and confident negotiator with the ability to negotiate at all levels Excellent relationship management skills, Financial Analysis Skills, Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities Understanding of Supply Chain Management Procedures, Logistics Skills, Strategic Planning Abilities, Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills Able to travel to meet with suppliers and work overtime as required Proven management skills Apply Now
