Our FMCG client is currently based in Mkondeni, but the factory is moving to Howick at the end of the year. An experienced Production Supervisor who has excellent people management skills and the ability to over see the production of the consumable products is required to lead the team. Experience in a food FMCG environment hugely advantageous.This position is suited to someone who is located reasonably close to Howick, and a petrol support allowance will be offered if commuting is initially required. A technical understand of machinery is also necessary to ensure the smooth running of the opertations. Manage and oversee staff in each division of the business: batching ,cutting ,baking, icing, packing. Oversee the machinery and learn to provide technical support. Mentor line supervisors to manage their staff more effectively Efficiently plan batches and fulfil orders, while ensuring all raw materials are available and in store Check that all Raw's are ordered in time – understand the lead times and suppliers of the raw materials and packaging components Set up some stock control system on excel spreadsheet Check yields against the planned production. Ensure quality standards are maintained by setting up QC program with regular checks completed on report sheets Oversee and ensure that the factory remains clean and tidy and staff clean and suitably attired Adhere to an implement Health, safety and quality standards Issue batch sheets and file at the end of the day Ability or willingness to learn to drive the forklift Count and receive all materials arriving at the factory Help pick orders and despatch if required Open up and close each day Set targets for staff improvement and monitor the improvements Proactive with a constant eye on continuous improvement. Matric Technical mindset Production planning qualification advantageous Willing to work in Howick, must have own car/licence Ability to work on Excel 5 years experience in management of people Drive or learn to drive a forklift. While the salary is fair, it does not warrent a provincial relocation.
