KEY ROLE: Manages the design performance on capital projects. The Engineering Lead has as direct project reports the project discipline leads and assigned Package managers, and manages the delivery of the Engineering scope of work for capital projects. The Engineering Lead manages work within the respective disciplines battery limits, and ensures the work is integrated across discipline battery limits: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The execution of the engineering scope as defined in the Project Scope of Work and Basis of Design. Ensure the engineering management plan is developed, implemented and effectively communicated and understood. Ensure appropriate design software and systems for the engineering team is implemented. Plan for the resources required (with the discipline leads) on the project and manage the same during execution. Direct and review the engineering activities to ensure that work quantities meet client requirements and agreed scope of works. Ensure design reviews as required are undertaken and will cover reliability, accessibility, operations, maintenance, safety including safe design, constructability. Ensuring that the design is delivered consistently in terms of the application of appropriate standards, processes and procedures, and systems across the project within the allocated budget and timeframes. Manage and coordinate all engineering deliverables, which includes the production of these deliverables on schedule and within budget. Provide input into the Project Progress Report with respect to design progress, schedule and cost. Ensure engineering risks are managed. Promote safety and awareness and integrating design for safety into design execution. Maintain contact with clients' engineering management at key points throughout the project to ensure that engineering aspects are meeting client requirements. Regularly review and appraise the structure of the engineering project team in terms of its ability to meet short- and long-term objectives and initiate appropriate change. Responsible for the engineering administrative function, directing area engineers, discipline leads, and the group engaged in their engineering responsibilities. Ensure adequate development (with the discipline-based area/package leads) of the engineering packages. Ensure that verification is undertaken on engineering deliverables to ensure the compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities. The engineering manager owns the scope and deliverable list: i.e., the work that will make up the individual BOQs specs drawings. Ensure the implementation of the design of all engineering disciplines, which includes the co-ordination of Engineering functions as well as the implementation of the associated Engineering Strategy. The provision of all necessary data, design information etc. to the other respective project team disciplines and expediting the receipt of data required. The provision of all the necessary information and input to the Project Planner as well as for the adequate management of time and cost control. Communication of all engineering information between Client and study Engineering Teams. Monitor the engineering time schedule and ensure the design is delivered in accordance with the plan. Ensure adequate technical reviews of design work are performed. The project discipline leads as assigned package managers integrate through their packages across disciplines, and integration between each package: i.e., across the battery limits, and that the package managers deliver their packages to go to award. Owns the packages list (i.e., the consolidated packages that go to tender of combinations of specs BOQ's drawings). Responsible for the completeness of each package, delivered to the Clients' supply chain, to go to award Responsible for ensuring all WBS items are integrated across the project, and in the procurement packages. Ensure the full integration of all engineering disciplines, the co-ordination of Engineering functions as well as the implementation of the associated Engineering Strategy. Ensuring the BIM and Digital strategy is implemented in study phase, and is taken through to execution HEALTH AND SAFETY Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company's health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm Embracing, displaying and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times Qualifications BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering ECSA PrEng registration 15 years' experience working on infrastructure projects Held the position of Engineering manager/Engineering lead on a capital project KEY COMPETENCIES AND GENERIC SKILLS: Experience and knowledge of how resources capital projects are scoped, planned and executed Team player Additional Information What if we can have work-life balance?
