A well-known organisation is looking for a Project Preparation Specialist. The main purpose of the role is to prepare projects at the decision-making stage, regarding to defying the project scope at the project's early preparation phase, while presenting feasible ideas that is beneficial to the company's goals. Your key responsibilities will include, but is not limited to: Identify potential projects in partnership with government, project owners / sponsors by: Conducting feasibility studies (economic, technical, financial, social, environmental, legal etc.) Economic cost-benefit analysis if required. Confirm the development impact of the project and structure. Provide innovative and flexible financial structures for transactions. Structure transactions project finance or corporate finance. Assist in selecting a project preparation pipeline of priority infrastructure projects. Typical preparation activities would include per project identified: Communicate the “products” that the Project Preparation Division offers to prospective the company's clients in the public and private sectors. Consult with SA Government departments, regional institutions, SOE and other clients, in relations to the company, by reviewing master plans / development plans to present to potential projects that are eligible for preparation. Perform a project gap analysis of projects selected to determine level of project preparation required as per the company's Project Assessment Tool (PAT). This will be achieved by: Identify sectoral and product experts and specialists required analysing to project preparation work required. If accepted into the project preparation pipeline, appraise the project (prepare appraisal report) for preparation facility and present to the company's decision-making structure for approval. The appraisal will contain a term of reference on outstanding preparation work required to prepare the project for bankability, as well as an implementation agreement and monitoring plan. Negotiate with the sponsor of the preparation facility agreement. Oversee disbursements under approved facility agreements, and Present regular monitoring and progress reports as per implementation plan. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients at global, regional, local levels including businesses, banking and multilateral partners and government officials to further develop specific project preparation opportunities. Manage relationships at various levels with the relevant project stakeholders, partners, and lead promoters, in accordance with the project's preparation objectives and products. Provide feedback on the status of the client applications timeously and advise them on the bank's processes and procedures. Ensure continuous communication with clients / projects that the company has funded with a view to adequately support the division's monitoring function. Technical Competencies: Written & Verbal Communication Financial Analysis Business Development Negotiation Stakeholder Management Project Preparation Behavioural Competencies Customer Service Orientation Self-awareness and Self Control Strategic and Innovative Thinking Driving Delivery of results Teamwork & Cooperation Requirements: A bachelors-graduate qualification in Business, Economics, Engineering, or Finance A post-graduate qualification in former disciplines and /or a CA, CFA or MBA would be an advantage. 3 years working experience in a credit assessment team or transaction team at a commercial bank in corporate finance and / or project finance.
