Duties will include but are not limited to: Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded. Update accounts receivable and issue invoices. Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations. Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial reports according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines. Assist with reviewing expenses, payroll records, etc. Oversee stock counts and report on stock variances. Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available. Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports. Prepare VAT recons & submissions. Assist other bookkeepers in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings. Participate in various accounting projects. Essential Requirements: 4 to 6 years (or more) experience as an Assistant Accountant WITHIN the Retail or FMCG Industry. A completed Degree or 3 Year National Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or similar. Advanced Excel skills. Experience with Sage 300 and Pastel. Proficient with numbers and figures and analytical acumen. Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices. Salary Range: - R22,000 to R26,000 cost to company per month (please note that salary will be dependent on the candidate's current job level, years of relevant retail industry experience, tertiary education, etc.)
