Key Responsibilities:
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA): Assist management in compiling and updating HIRAs, ensuring compliance with safety acts and related legislation.
- Road Transport Management System (RTMS): Maintain compliance, review audit findings, and assist in closing recommendations.
- Emergency Preparedness: Respond to emergencies and ensure emergency plans are in place.
- Safety Management System (SMS): Conduct site audits, follow up on findings, and identify unsafe acts and conditions.
- Incident Management: Investigate and report incidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Communication and Awareness: Attend safety meetings, issue alerts, and communicate legal updates and safety statistics.
- Medical Inductions & Exits: Liaise with clients and service providers for medical bookings.
- Safety Documentation: Update safety standards, ensure documentation is current, and maintain safety files.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure all permits, licenses, and certificates are up to date and conduct legal compliance audits.
- Client Relations: Build effective relationships with clients and service providers, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 (required)
- SAMTRAC or related qualification (required)
- 2-4 years of experience in transport/logistics or mining (advantageous)
- Experience in booking medicals and inductions (required)
Skills:
- HIRA, incident investigation, project management
- Strong client relations and report-writing skills
- Analytical, attention to detail, effective communication, and relationship-building
- Knowledge of OHSA and MHSA
- Proficient in MS Office (Word and Excel)
- Willing to travel regularly for site and client visits
- Available for overtime and on standby 24/7 for emergencies
