The assistant resident engineer for a solar project is responsible for overseeing and managing all on-site activities related to the construction of solar energy installations, including the building of associated structures. This includes coordinating with subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, managing schedules and budgets, and facilitating effective communication among all project stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in civil construction and a strong understanding of solar energy projects will be an advantage. Project Planning and Coordination: Develop detailed project plans and schedules in collaboration with the resident engineer. Coordinate daily on-site activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines and milestones. Supervise and coordinate the work of subcontractors, suppliers, and laborers on site. Site Management: Oversee the construction of solar farms, including site preparation, foundation work, mounting system installation, and electrical work. Manage the construction of related structures such as control rooms, inverters, substations, and fencing. Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and contractual requirements. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Work closely with the Health and Safety Officer to implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment. Conduct regular safety meetings and site audits in collaboration with the Health and Safety Officer to ensure adherence to safety regulations. Address any safety concerns or incidents promptly and effectively. Quality Control: Ensure that all construction activities, including building structures, meet or exceed industry standards and project specifications. Conduct quality inspections and tests as required to ensure the integrity and performance of the solar installation and associated structures. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all quality control activities. Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with project managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project progress, including any issues or delays. Facilitate coordination meetings and ensure that all parties are informed of project developments. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and safety records. Prepare and submit regular reports on project status, including progress, costs, and any issues encountered. Ensure that all project documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date. National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred). Minimum of 5 years' experience in site management within the civil construction industry, with specific experience in solar projects will be a bonus. Proven track record of successfully managing construction sites and delivering projects on time and within budget. Strong knowledge of civil/electrical construction practices.
