Applications are invited from suitable qualified interested parties to fill the position indicated above. The candidate will be expected to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels in the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering in the Department of Hydrology, undertake research in the relevant field and will assist with undergraduate and graduate research. The candidate will also assist with some administrative duties, as well as community engagement projects. The incumbent will report to the Head of Department: Hydrology KEY ACTIVITIES Lecturing at different academic levels; Publication of research articles; Supervision and mentoring of postgraduate students; Introduction of new community engagement initiatives and integration of community engagement activities with research; OTHER REQUIREMENTS Skills Coordination/management experience/skills; Project management skills; Marketing/communication skills; Report and concept document writing skills; Teaching and applied research skills; Demonstrate the use of technology to enable teaching and learning over distance learning. CLOSING DATE : 25 MAY 2024 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Possession of a completed Doctoral degree in Hydrology or Geohydrology or Hydrogeology or a related field. Specialised knowledge of Groundwater hydrology and/or Soil water hydrology and/or water resources management. Proven ability to teach and undertake research in the areas of specialisation. Minimum 5 years' experience of teaching at a Tertiary Institution Commensurate with the nature of the post to which the applicant was previously appointed in, competence must be proven in: communicating knowledge and facilitating teaching and learning in lectures, seminars and tutorials, at different academic levels; an understanding of WIL and/or service learning; assessment practices; curriculum design and development; a demonstrated ability to undertake research, ongoing research activity and dissemination of research findings, including a reasonable record of publications in accredited and/or internationally-recognised research journals; supervision of postgraduate students and development of research capacity; service to the University either at departmental or institutional level, and management of academic programs. Ability to develop online teaching and learning programmes as well as, related comprehensive assessments; Ability to undertake administrative responsibilities and leadership at departmental or institutional levels; Ability and willingness to participate in community engagement projects; An interest in and engagement with research as well as the theory of teaching and learning, participation in development programs, and academic participation at national and/or international level; Sound interpersonal skills, including a commitment to collegiality and equal opportunity through mentorship. ADDED ADVANTAGES Certified by SACNASP as a professional natural scientist. A qualification in, or proof of studying towards, the assessment of learning at NQF Level 7/8, or an equivalent teaching qualification; alternatively, a qualification in postgraduate supervision at NQF Level 7/8, or an equivalent postgraduate supervision qualification.
