Acknowledge new contracts and match the "supplier" with the "buyer" while ensuring all new shipments are populated and maintained in the "Shipment Schedule" file on the SharePoint site.
Open, populate, and maintain the relevant colored, hard-copy files for each new shipment.
Monitor and update all shipment schedules in the "Shipment Schedule which includes ETA, SOB, and ETD.
Arrange container bookings for new shipments directly with the Shipping Line or Agent.
Provide routing and tracking information on containers and bills of Landing Shipping documentation.
Update and inform clients on the status of their shipments/containers.
Arrange clearances and releases with relevant authorities and industry bodies.
Manage and control documentation flow by liaising with agents, suppliers, and customers for the correct and timely preparation of shipping documents.
Liaise with clients regarding documentation and tailor-made requirements.
Monitor, arrange, and control road haul deliveries of containers/cargo.
Ensure that all documentation aligns with supplier/buyer contacts.
Negotiate rates with relevant industry specialists.
In charge of accumulating the cost for different freight transportation for approval.
Monitor and ensure all empty containers are uplifted for new shipments and turned in within the prescribed free period.
Monitor the shipping budget on monthly expenses compared to the proposed budget for each project.
Follow relevant SOPs and procedures.
Requirements:
Grade 12 Matric Certificate.
Tertiary Qualification is advantageous.
Minimum 5 years in a similar role.
Ability to perform under pressure and meet changing deadlines.
Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively across different cultures and time zones.
Microsoft competency.
Good understanding of South African import and export procedures, e.g. Port Health, DAFF, etc.
