A Civil Structural Engineer specializing in steel structures, concrete reinforcement, and scaffolding works is responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of structural elements and systems. This role involves ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and compliance of buildings and infrastructure projects with relevant standards and regulations
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Analysis:
- Develop detailed designs for steel structures, including beams, columns, trusses, and frameworks.
- Design concrete reinforcement plans for various structural elements like slabs, beams, columns, and foundations.
- Utilize software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, ETABS) for structural analysis and design.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes (e.g., AISC, ACI, Eurocodes) and project specifications.
- Project Management:
- Prepare project schedules and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
- Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Construction Supervision:
- Oversee the installation and erection of steel structures, ensuring proper alignment and connection.
- Supervise concrete reinforcement placement, formwork, and pouring processes.
- Ensure scaffolding systems are properly designed, erected, and inspected for safety.
- Conduct regular site inspections and provide technical guidance to construction teams.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Implement quality control procedures to ensure materials and workmanship meet required standards.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and work plans.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
- Conduct structural inspections and prepare reports on findings.
- Problem Solving:
- Identify and resolve issues related to design, construction, and materials.
- Provide engineering solutions for structural modifications or repairs.
- Conduct failure analysis and recommend remedial measures.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
- Maintain accurate records of design calculations, construction activities, and inspection reports.
- Communicate project status and issues to stakeholders through regular reports and meetings.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Masters degree in Structural Engineering or related field is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural design and construction, with a focus on steel structures and concrete reinforcement.
- Proven experience in scaffolding works and safety compliance.
Skills:
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D).
