Supervising projects: Overseeing the direction of an entire project or a specific stage within it to ensure it meets expectations and deadlines. Intervene if something is causing safety issues, adjust timelines based on the project's progress and regularly communicate project goals to on-site employees. Reviewing progress: Regularly review project progress to assess how closely it's proceeding to the projected timeline. If the project is behind schedule, implement strategies to hasten work and simplify approaches or adjust deadlines without compromising on quality or safety. Meeting surveyors: Liaise with quantity surveyors and facilitates their investigations by keeping track of receipts, invoices, resource costs and personnel contracts. Handling communications: Communicate about ongoing site work with anybody involved in the project, including clients, other contractors and members of the public. Control access to the site, communicate project progress, leverage resources and consult other specialists when their expertise is necessary. Overseeing labourers: Oversee labourers and ensure they're conducting work to a high standard and in compliance with regulations. Represent employees' interests by ensuring compliance with their rights and contracts and rewarding good performance. Acquiring resources: Source and select materials and tools to use in ongoing projects to ensure they meet goals. Make decisions and changes midway through a project if it's going over budget or if more funding has become available in response to client communications. Inspecting sites: Before compliance officers and inspectors visit a site, conduct regular safety inspections to check that the site adheres to regulations to ensure contractors are safe. This may involve making regular audits and inventories of supplies, tools and personnel to ensure they account for everything. Assessing risk: Write risk assessments for sites and packages. These assessments are important for the safety of contractors and the final build and for financial liability if a workplace accident occurs.
