Site Manager - Southern Suburbs - South Africa

Our client requires a skilled and experienced building Site Manager to oversee residential developments and Upmarket homes in the Southern Suburbs.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall management and coordination of the construction project from start to finish, ensuring adherence to timeline, budget, and quality standards.
  • Report directly to Director.
  • Supervision of site personnel including subcontractors, foreman, labour to maintain productivity and safety.
  • Regular monitoring and reporting of project progress, identifying any issues or delays and implementing corrective measures, as necessary.
  • Coordination with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve technical queries and ensure compliance with building regulations and specifications.
  • Procurement and management of construction materials, equipment, and resources to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implementation and enforcement of site safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Preparation and maintenance of project documentation including reports, schedules, and budgets.
  • Conducting regular site inspections and quality control checks to ensure workmanship meets established standards and specifications.
  • Consulting with clients and attending meetings to provide updates on project progress, address concerns, and manage expectations.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to the project team, fostering a collaborative and positive working environment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, with a number of years working in a Site Manager / Site Agent position in the construction industry, with a proven track record of successfully managing medium to large-scale projects.
  • Solid JBCC experience
  • Planning skills using MS Project or similar.
  • Qualification in Construction would be an advantage, not a deal breaker.
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods, building codes, and regulations relevant to residential apartment block projects.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team of professionals and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail and an initiative-taking approach to resolving issues.
  • Familiarity with local suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities would be an advantage.
