Sous Chef - Cape Town City Centre
Our client is looking for a skilled and creative Sous Chef with a passion for culinary excellence. The ideal candidate should have expertise in pastry and baking, inventory control, staff training, and management.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including menu planning and food preparation.
- Create innovative and delicious desserts and baked goods.
- Manage kitchen inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing waste.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
- Handle customer feedback and make necessary adjustments to meet customer expectations.
Key Skills:
- Expertise in culinary techniques, particularly in pastry and baking (Optional).
- Strong inventory management and cost control skills.
- Excellent staff training and development capabilities.
- Imaginative and creative approach to menu development and food presentation.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations and inventory management.
- Experience in training and managing kitchen staff.
Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification would be an advantage.
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role.
- International experience is preferable.
