Rolls-Royce Solutions South Africa (Pty) Ltd currently has vacant positions for 2 x Workshop Technician(s) to be based in Johannesburg. Objective of Job: Execute engine repairs, engine rebuilds, stripping, investigation and possible dyno testing on mtu /DOC engines by applying mtu standard documentation work practices and ensuring that mtu specifications are met at all times. Assist to develop and implement new more efficient production processes to add value to the production of engines. Inspect all incoming jobs part condition according to the job requirements. Carry out all repairs/overhauls/inspections in the production facility on engines and/or mechanical systems to the highest quality standard. Assure that you adhere to the specific mtu standards, (maintenance manual, parts manual, service bulletin, CiF, VAZA, AAZA), specifications as applicable for the specific engine/system being rebuild/repaired/inspected. Rework must be avoided at all times. Assure that all repairs you carried out are completed within the mtu standard times to achieve an 85% labour recovery rate. Align job planning with scope of work. Report additional work to your respective Supervisor for discussion with the customers. Prepare parts, tooling and consumables lists for repairs/maintenance. Note all critical measurements and decision in the disassembly & inspection report and build book of the engine. Ensure sign off with your supervisor on critical steps in the build book/strip report. Prepare a build/strip report with all relevant information i.e., engine technical specifications, photos, fuel/oil/coolant analysis report findings, note defects with explanations, make recommendations for improved engine/component life cycles. Assure the proper handling of special tools and report damaged tooling immediately to your respective Supervisor. Assist staff in your team with the job at hand. For lengthy jobs ensure that all job reports are updated daily to monitor the progress of the scope of work. Complete job/build reports for all work carried out within five (5) working days of job completion. Assure that all warranty parts are labelled and sent to the warranty store. Involve your respective Supervisor in warranty decision-making. Ensure that your daily activities are accurately captured electronically in your time sheet and sub mitted to the relevant administrator. Complete an inspection of Core components and engines using the mtu Core Criteria Evaluation. All work performed is to meet with the TQM quality standards. Assure a risk assessment is completed and filed per job. Represent the company in a professional manner at all times. Performing of special jobs and tasks from time to time as request by your respective Supervisor/Manager. Report all near misses, and or injuries. Inspect tooling used for proper function and ensure valid calibration certification is in place. Complete quality inspections on all work completed by subcontractors that are required for successful completion of engine builds. Qualified Diesel Fitter or Diesel Mechanic (Red Seal). Grade 12, NTC 3 or equal. Minimum of 5 years in the motor industry as a Diesel Fitter/Mechanic. Code 08 Drivers License. mtu related training and qualifications an added advantage. Market Related
