Diesel Mechanic (Construction and Plant Hire) - - Durban

Job Outline:
Candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of diesel-powered vehicles and machinery. Working in our state-of-the-art facility, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our equipment operates efficiently and safely, meeting the needs of our clients and supporting our commitment to quality service delivery.

Minimum Requirements:

Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably in the plant and construction vehicle hire industry.
Vocational training or certification in diesel mechanics or a related field.
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
Experience using diagnostic tools and equipment such as scan tools, multimeters, and pressure gauges.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication of engines and components.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Conduct thorough inspections to identify defects, worn parts, and potential problems in accordance with maintenance schedules.
Repair and replace defective parts, components, or systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulic systems.
Perform preventive maintenance procedures to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
Complete work orders accurately and timely, documenting all repairs and maintenance activities.
Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Collaborate with other team members and departments to prioritize and schedule repairs and maintenance tasks.
Keep abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in diesel engine diagnostics and repair.
