Diesel Mechanic Earth Moving Equipment - Pro Select Consulting - Pietermaritzburg

Experience: Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in the maintenance and repair of earth-moving equipment. Familiarity with various diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical systems used in heavy equipment. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role. Technical Skills: Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related components. Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, and hoses. Competence in repairing and replacing transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and other mechanical components. Knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring diagrams, circuits, and troubleshooting techniques. Familiarity with computerized diagnostic tools and software used in modern equipment maintenance. Safety Compliance: Understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to working on heavy equipment. Ability to follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and practices. Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and clients. Ability to provide clear explanations of repair procedures and maintenance recommendations to non-technical personnel. Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes of equipment malfunctions and develop effective solutions.
