ESG Administrator Purpose of the Role This is an administrative role and involves the co-ordination of administrative requirements within the department. The ESG Administrator will be primarily responsible for insuring the smooth processing of building certifications in line with the ESG strategy. Primary responsibilities The ESG Administrator will be responsible for aiding in ensuring the submission of selected Office buildings for Existing Building Performance recertifications with the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA); other actions associated with the smooth processing of Green Building recertifications with the GBCSA, and the certification of Net Zero buildings (in carbon, water and/or waste). In addition, the position requires the incumbent to have a good understanding of the operational activities associated with the gathering of data and requirements necessary for certification of new and/or existing buildings as Green Star and / or Net Zero. It is also expected that the incumbent will assist the department in the structuring and implementation of administrative procedures to aid in the successful collation and verification of data required for these submissions. The incumbent will be required to ensure that key findings of improvement measures are implemented and monitored across the portfolios as required. Key Performance Areas Researching and gathering information to inform the documentation for Green Building recertification process. Retrieving and compiling data from various sources, both internally and externally Identification of areas of improvement across all portfolios and recommend adjustments that need to be made to achieve or improve building performance areas which will allow for, amongst others, Green Building certification credits improvement. Compilation of new submission packs for recertifications Collating and preparing documentation to the GBCSA. Responding to clarification questions. Finalise submissions and outcomes. Assisting and facilitating with GBCSA and external consultants with Net Zero certification Managing the carbon certification process for Net Zero carbon certification, and expansion into Net Zero Water and/or Net Zero Waste. Supporting the business in achieving the net zero carbon certification of buildings. Collecting information that is required from the business for certification. Assisting with Net Zero offsetting certifications. Advising the business on how to approach Green Star SA and Net Zero building training requirements. Assisting with capturing payments and working with the creditors department to ensure that payments are processed as per standard operating procedures. Additional Job Specific Requirements Comfortable in dealing with senior executives, professionally qualified external consultants, and all levels of people in the organisation. High levels of communication skills (verbal and written) High level of ethics, integrity and professionalism a strong team-orientation with the ability to use own initiative. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. Flexibility and ability to cope with change. Excellent organisational, planning skills and attention to detail Ability to compile and work with budget/cash flow and other financial related excel spreadsheets on a regular basis. High proficiency in MS office suite (Particularly Power Point, PDF Writer, Excel, & Word) Experience and Qualifications Diploma or related tertiary qualification essential. Sustainability related professional accreditation Would be advantageous. Min 3 years’ working experience, within a real estate or related environment preferred. Job knowledge Working knowledge of Net Zero Building Certification and Green Star rating would be advantageous. Accredited Professional qualification in Green Star Certification will be required. Ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions. Ability to develop long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work accomplishments. Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations, Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality. The above duties are the main requirements to be successful in this role, however, the employee can be requested to perform other duties and responsibilities from time to time during his/her employment with the company, based on its operational requirements.
