Location: South Africa (open to opportunities within South Africa or as an expat on the African Continent) Overview: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Group Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, preferably with experience in various industries within South Africa or on the African continent. The Group Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management. Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS or other relevant accounting standards. Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and maintain the company's budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights into financial performance and variances. Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow projections and ensure adequate liquidity to meet operational needs. Implement strategies to optimize cash resources. Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes, including investment opportunities, pricing strategies, and cost-saving initiatives. Internal Controls: Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Tax Compliance: Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with tax regulations and optimize tax efficiency. Audit Management: Liaise with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and address any audit findings. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective risk management practices and insurance coverage. Business Partnering: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives. Mentorship and Development: Provide guidance and mentorship to finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CA qualification preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Strong knowledge of IFRS and other accounting standards. Experience working in various industries within South Africa or on the African continent is highly desirable. Proficiency in financial modelling and analysis. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Strategic mindset with the ability to think analytically and make data-driven decisions. Proven track record of driving process improvements and implementing best practices. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite. Seeking South African candidates in South Africa that is interested in opportunities within SA or within the African continent or SA expats already based in the African continent.
