A leading mechanical engineering concern in Bellville wants to appoint a Project Engineer to assist in the coordination of various types of engineering projects from quotation to installation, ensuring the safety of stakeholders, client satisfaction, and quality of work within the agreed time and budget. Candidates must have at least 3 years' relevant experience after graduation in mechanical engineering projects. Manage projects Identify business opportunities with existing clients and provide feedback to Operations Manager and General Manager Understand client's requirement and assist him in defining the project requirements when needed (raw materials, technical requirements, surveys on site…) Liaise with Suppliers and Sub contractors to get quotations as per technical requirements. Find new suppliers when needed and negotiate prices, terms and conditions. Participate in projects kick-off meetings with other departments (workshop, QC, HSE…) to determine project requirements (HSE, welding book, WPS, NDT…) Participate to project evaluation and quotes to be approved by Project Manager/ Operations Manager Acknowledge receipt of clients Purchase Order and verify it against the offer Management of Recertification/Overhaul/Repair projects for Capital Drilling Equipment Management of High Pressure Pipe fabrication related projects Prepare project, materials and coordinate on site installation Organize procurement of raw materials as per bill of materials Supervise sensitive material reception (requirements and traceability) Organize, coordinate and follow up subcontracted work Coordinate surveys, measures and ensure issued drawings and technical information match client's and contract requirements before dispatching them to the workshop and/or site supervisors Organize and follow up pre-fabrication with workshop or subcontractors Coordinate the logistics in mobilizing prefabricated items, tools/ equipment and personnel to the site locations with the Supervisor or Team Leader Prepare and give instructions to the team leader/supervisor to prepare the installation on site Monitor projects progress to ensure it runs according schedule and budget and report findings weekly to the Operations Manager Manage tasks allocated by Project Managers . Close projects At the end of the project, make the final inspection with the client and get sign-off Give instructions to Admin coordinator for client invoicing Ensure fabrication data book and any other required document are prepared after the project Prepare the project summary and project financial analysis and submit it to Operations Manager Manage customer relationships Participate in client / contractor meetings Maintain good communication and ensure responsiveness to client's requests Resolve any potential project issue QHSE Management Participate with the QA and Safety Management systems development Ensure personnel compliance with Company and client QHSE policies and systems Liaise with HSE coordinator when specific project related HSE procedures are needed Complies with the OHS ACT 85 of 1993 and all relevant health, safety, environmental, quality, legal and regulatory requirements as stipulated by company requirements Engineering Degree A minimum of 3 years of experience in the field after graduation Technical knowledge & experience in managing steel fabrication (Piping and Structural) will be advantageous. General understanding of industry related standards (ASM B31.3, API, ASME IX, AWSD1.1). Experience working in Offshore / Marine / Mining / Oil and Gas sector will be advantageous. Knowledge of High Pressure piping (5,000psi, 10,000psi, 15,000psi WP) beneficial. Technical knowledge of welding processes (GTAW, SMAW, FCAW). Methodical and excellent attention to detail.
