We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Equipment Repair Technician to join our team. The Equipment Repair Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of on-site machining equipment and machinery used in our operations as well as sold to customers and brought back for repairs. The ideal candidate will have strong technical abilities, a solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Furthermore, the candidate should ideally have experience in coordinating repair schedules, ensuring timely completion of projects, and maintaining high-quality standards. This role requires strong leadership abilities, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities: Team Management: Supervise and lead a small team of workshop technicians and equipment repair specialists. Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to team members. Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to all safety protocols. Equipment Diagnosis and Repair: Inspect equipment to identify issues, diagnose mechanical or electrical problems, and perform repairs as needed. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions using diagnostic tools, manuals, and technical resources. Replace defective parts, adjust settings, and calibrate machinery to ensure proper functionality. Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as lubricating parts, cleaning components, and performing minor adjustments to prevent breakdowns. Follow maintenance schedules and checklists to ensure equipment is properly maintained and operating efficiently. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory. Generate repair reports, work orders, and documentation to track work performed and communicate with supervisors or other team members. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while working on equipment to prevent accidents and injuries. Identify and report potential safety hazards or risks associated with equipment operation or repair activities. Quality Assurance: Ensure that repaired equipment meets quality standards and performs according to specifications. Conduct functional tests and performance checks after repairs to verify proper operation and functionality. Equipment Maintenance and Repair Planning: Develop and implement maintenance schedules for workshop equipment, machinery, and tools. Coordinate and oversee repairs, servicing, and troubleshooting activities to minimize downtime. Ensure all equipment is maintained in optimal working condition to support production requirements. Workshop Operations: Manage workshop operations efficiently, including inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment records. Optimize workflow processes to maximize productivity and minimize turnaround times. Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. Technical Expertise: Possess a strong understanding of workshop machinery, tools, and equipment used in various industries. Provide technical expertise and assistance to team members during complex repair projects. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in equipment repair and maintenance. Customer Interaction: Liaise with customers to understand their repair needs and provide accurate cost estimates. Communicate effectively with clients regarding repair progress, timelines, and any additional requirements. Build and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business. Budget Management: Monitor workshop expenses, including labor costs, parts procurement, and maintenance expenditures. Develop and manage the workshop budget effectively to optimize resource allocation and control costs. Qualifications and Skills: Red seal or Diploma in Mechanical and/or Electrical field or a related field. Proven experience (5 years) in a similar role, preferably in a workshop or equipment repair environment. Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff. Excellent technical knowledge of workshop machinery, equipment repair techniques, and maintenance practices. Proficiency in reading technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance standards. Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively. Proficiency in computer skills and familiarity with maintenance management software is preferred. Proven experience as an Equipment Repair Technician or similar role. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Familiarity with a variety of equipment types and brands. Excellent attention to detail and precision in workmanship. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
