We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes, from bookkeeping and financial statement preparation to analysis and reporting. Maintain the financial records under a modest amount of supervision and assistance from the Financial Director. General ledger – postings and maintenance up to trial balance Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts as well as agreement of inter-company balances and subsidiary ledgers. Sales reconciliation – balance up of sales reports to general ledger. VAT – preparation and submission of periodic returns for the group companies. Includes dealing with all associated queries. Payroll– monthly preparation of salaries payroll which includes a detailed commission check against the POS system Payroll Statutory – preparation of all associated returns with the payroll. E.g. PAYE, garnishees, pension etc. and reconciliation of all wage and salary clearing accounts. Cashbook – maintain the company bank accounts. This involves daily updates of the cashbook and reconciliation, as well as allocation/ageing of all payments and receipts against debtor and creditor ledgers or income and expense accounts. Creditor and Debtor ledgers – maintain and review ledgers to ensure reflection of an accurate picture of assets and liabilities. Fixed Assets – Annual maintenance of the fixed assets registers and balance up to general ledger. Taxation – assist with preparation of annual income tax returns. Backup – the position backed up the Assistant & Studio managers role. Legislation – keep abreast of all taxation issues and statutory requirements. Year End – assist with preparation of all year-end schedules to expedite the annual audit of the company. IT & Communications – ensure routine back up of financial systems and assist the Financial Director with problem-solving and maintenance of business applications. Stock Valuation – Ensure that the moving average is calculated correctly and journalized changes accordingly. Conduct stock take and assist in reporting on stock variations. Analyze Inventory – Determine stock that needed to be written off, establish re-order limits & monitor stock on hand using excel formulas. Prepare and enter appropriate stock movement journals on to the nominal ledger each month. Oversee the stock control function and ensure completeness of invoicing and recording of all stock movements (in/out) Ensure all data from overseas studios and suppliers is correctly translated at the appropriate exchange rate (month end). Ensure that the monthly billings / recharges from Group suppliers, principally Hong Kong and AHS Australia, are correctly analyzed and input. Prepare monthly advertising budget to agreed formats for UK and European studios Review weekly studio reports to ensure correct entry of income and other defined statistical data Prepare ad hoc reports as required by the senior management of the company Professional Accounting training to at least finalist level (CIMA, ACCA) or AAT qualified Relevant Accounting experience in accounts preparation, reconciliation and bookkeeping, VAT/PAYE compliance and reporting. QuickBooks, MS Excel (Intermediate to Advanced), Pastel Payroll, SARS e-Filing, Salary is R25000 – R38000 (depending on qualifications & experience) Working hours are 08h00 – 17h00 Monday to Friday Apply Now
