The successful candidate will report to the Quality Assurance Manager within the Quality Department and is responsible for two or three direct reports on an ad-hoc basis. The position is responsible for inspecting the quality of stored fruit and ensuring that fruit are packed and complies with the export requirements/specifications of Chiltern Farms' intended clients. The role will also require the successful candidate to occasionally relief the Quality control line managers and Quality Manager in performing tasks aligned to their responsibilities. Quality inspections Conducting and overseeing regular inspections to ensure that all special market requirements are adhered to in accordance with packhouse protocols and DALRRD. Oversee special market sampling, accuracy of labelling and administration. Managing the quality and quantity control during Flow wrapping. Accurate capturing of quality rejections and client feedback. Assist with investigations, data compilation and reporting of claims, incidents, and customer queries. Assist with Fabrication inspections and assignment of maintenance jobs resulting from the inspections. Management of additional pallet stock inspections requests from exporters. Management of the necessary information to obtain and maintain Indonesian Food Safety certifications. Assist the Quality Assurance Manager to update customer specifications. Execution of internal quality projects and tracking against set targets. Compliance and Team Management Assist with the training and education of the relevant departments regarding food safety standards. Assist with the execution and compilation of competency assessments and documentation thereof. Compilation of reports for customers based on MRL results. Conduct additional internal quality audits on relevant departments to ensure compliance and records updated. Assist with compliance related projects and data capturing for the packhouse. Tracking of carbon footprint information for relevant departments and reporting trends to the Compliance Manager. Participate in internal auditing regarding food safety. Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders. Train and equip team members to perform optimally Qualifications: A relevant tertiary qualification and or Diploma in Horticulture, Food Science or Food Safety Experience: Minimum of 2 years prior experience in a supervisory or management role within a fruit / fresh produce environment Experience in a packhouse will be advantageous. Has a sound understanding of industry food safety requirements (e.g. BRC, HACCP) Sound understanding of post-harvest fruit handling. Sound understanding of cold chain management. Sound understanding an ability to interpret packing specifications. Knowledge and experience of pome fruit and / or berries is compulsory. Sound Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Vitrax knowledge will be advantageous. Key behavioural skills required: Detail oriented and analytical by nature.
