The Breakdown Clerk plays a crucial role in our operations, ensuring the smooth resolution of breakdowns and maintenance issues encountered by our fleet of trucks. Breakdown Coordination Maintain accurate records of vehicle breakdowns, repairs, and maintenance activities. Update and manage databases and spreadsheets with relevant breakdown and repair information. Ensure all paperwork is completed correctly and filed appropriately. Communication Coordinate with external service providers for towing and repair services. Communicate repair status and timelines to relevant stakeholders. Keep drivers informed of the status of their breakdowns and provide assistance and support as needed. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure a coordinated response to breakdowns and minimize disruptions to operations. Data Entry and Reporting Enter breakdown and repair data into the company's maintenance management system. Generate reports on breakdown incidents, repair costs, and service provider performance. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards in all breakdown and maintenance activities. Inventory Monitor and manage inventory levels of spare parts and supplies. Order and track parts as needed for vehicle repairs. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fastpaced environment. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with drivers, mechanics, and vendors. Computer literate and experience with maintenance management software. Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications for data entry and record keeping. Attention to detail and problemsolving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent Proven experience as a clerk, preferably in a transportation, logistics, or automotive environment. Previous experience in a similar role within the trucking or transportation industry is highly desirable.
