Opportunity/Job Purpose: The Cloud Engineer plays a crucial role in the development, maintenance, and support of an IoT telematics system that collects and dashboards data from diverse company products. Working closely with firmware and hardware design teams, the engineer ensures seamless integration of hardware and cloud infrastructure. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting technical issues, configuring customer-specific dashboards and reports, documenting systems, supporting product testing and certification. This role also involves contributing to new model innovation, managing project deliveries, and monitoring product data trends. The engineer's expertise in cloud platforms, programming languages, and electronic engineering is essential for driving the company's IoT initiatives forward. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate creativity, commercial grasp, design rigour and self-starting attributes. maxwellspark fosters a diverse, fast paced, progressive work environment with a multidisciplinary approach to engineering without micro-management. The candidate should have an affinity for such working conditions and be able to rise to the occasion. The role will be based in Durban, South Africa. What will you do? Role and responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Collaborate with firmware and hardware design engineers on an IoT telematics system to deliver new designs and features Provide technical support to field technicians. Going to site at times to assist complex problem solving. Trouble shooting and root cause problem identification. Configure dashboards and generate reports per customer requirements. Co-ordinate IoT operations and metrics. Steward procurement, production and other departments to deliver devices when required. Be able to characterize 3 rd party machines, components and field environments. Manage users and user experience of internal and external customers. Develop automation systems and facilitate efficient execution methods. Assist senior engineers in system commissioning, maintenance, and documentation of software, electrical, and electronic systems. Participate in testing, documenting product evolution, and supporting certification procedures as needed. Contribute to innovation, design and development efforts for new models. Assist in interfacing with hardware production and provisioning processes. Manage suppliers and drive telematic project deliveries. Support project planning and contribute to progress reporting. Monitor product data, analyze trends, and provide thought out reports. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree (BSc) in Electronic Engineering Computer Science, Computer Engineering. Minimum of 5 years' of relevant work experience. Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS/Azure, ideally within the IoT domain. Experience in Python, Java, C# programming with a focus on IoT applications. Interest and understanding of telematics, data gathering and analysis. Strong technical writing and communication skills. Motivated and skilled in electronic testing and reporting. Driver's license and willingness to travel intermittently. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The following would be beneficial for the role: Electronic design and measurement experience Additional qualifications in data analysis or related courses. Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, GPS and Cellular IOT systems. Knowledge of firmware development for a range of microcontrollers Familiarity with CAN (Controller Area Network) protocols. Further qualifications or certificates in electronic engineering or related fields.
