MANUFACTURING/ENGINEERING SECTOR Based East Rand. Join a market leader that manufactures their industrial products for local and international markets and forms part of a local Group of Companies. This medium size Company which employs approximately 230 staff (60 salaried and 170 wages) is the flagship and most profitable Subsidiary in the Group (Group turnover is ± R2.5 bn) that consists of 8 manufacturing & engineering Subsidiaries. This position reports into the Managing Director and plays a key role in the ongoing success of the business. The key objective of this position is to ensure the continuous improvement objectives are achieved through the development of an organisational culture that supports a continuous improvement business philosophy and the effective deployment of relevant and appropriate lean/6 sigma tools. This will also increase customer satisfaction as well as optimising profitability and efficiency in the plant. The plant consists of a number of smelters and furnaces as well as other machinery to support the manufacturing process. There are a number of Production Managers including for the Smelting Division and Refining Division as well as an Engineering Manager who all report into an Operations Manager. Key performance areas, inter alia, include: Supervise 3 direct reports – Continuous Improvement Practitioners Chair the Continuous Improvement Steering Committee Sit on Company's Operations Committee as well as report on continuous improvement results measured against agreed metrics Develop, communicate and drive policy deployment and the continuous improvement roadmap Coordinate the continuous improvement efforts of the business by leading and administering systems Support continuous improvement efforts by facilitating, training, coaching and developing individuals and teams across all disciplines Ensure the appropriate skills are in place to support the continuous improvement culture Deploy appropriate lean tools across all Departments in the business Develop and conduct compliance audits, evaluations & reviews to drive results to ensure permanent change Maintain the ISO 9001 System In terms of continuous improvements projects, be responsible for identifying, managing, benefit tracking and reporting Plan and coordinate continuous improvement related training. Requirements: Must have an Engineering Degree as well having a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification Experience includes not less than 5 years within a Lean / Six Sigma Operations environment as well as being an avid Lean Practitioner with demonstrated experience in the deployment of a range of lean tools. Should understand the basics of a refining and smelting process Other experience includes presenting & communicating new ideas, strong MS Suite particularly in Excel and PowerPoint as well as statistical data analysis skills. It should be noted that this position is very hands-on and there is a framework in place The candidate needs to be a self-starter, make things happen and “be on top of his/her game”. R1 MILLION – R1.2 MILLION, INCENTIVE
