Reference: JHB000478-AT-1 A well-established POS company in Belville, Western Cape, seeks a Technical Cost Estimator. This role involves assessing and analysing costs for technical projects, including materials, labour, and equipment. Strong technical understanding, analytical, and communication skills are essential. Experience & Qualifications: A Diploma or degree in a related field is an advantage. At least 3-5 years cost estimation experience Computer literacy essential Proven experience in cost estimation, preferably in a relevant industry such as POS. Proficient in using CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite. Technical Proficiency in the following software applications: Experience in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino3D) Proficiency in desktop publishing software (e.g., CorelDraw, Versa Works) Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite software (e.g., Excel, Word, Power Point) Responsibilities: Cost Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analyses of project requirements, including technical specifications, Drawings, and CAD designs, to determine the scope of work and associated costs Resource Evaluation: Evaluate and quantify the resources required for a project, including materials, equipment, and labour, considering factors such as quantity, quality, and availability Vendor and Supplier Management: Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes and pricing information for materials and services, negotiate favourable terms, and ensure cost-effectiveness. Cost Estimation: Utilize specialized software and tools to develop detailed cost estimates, considering factors such as labour rates, overhead costs, and project timelines. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs, such as market fluctuations, regulatory changes, or unforeseen technical challenges, and incorporate risk mitigation strategies into cost estimates. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare clear and concise cost estimates, reports, and documentation for internal stakeholders, clients, and project teams, ensuring accuracy and transparency in all communications. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to cost estimation and project management, and actively seek opportunities to improve processes and methodologies.
