The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for performing engineering design and calculation generation and all allocated tasks and responsibilities to achieve an agreed deliverable date and man-hour budget that complies with applicable Study / Project specific Codes and Standards. The Engineer will, in general, work under supervision of the Manager: EC&I and receive instructions and direction from Project Managers / Lead Engineers. The tasks you'll perform (not exhaustive): Generation and compilation of engineering and equipment specifications. Assist with plant layout design and coordination of drafting resources in the preparation of drawing deliverables. Assist with the preparation of Study and EPCM documentation. Assist with cable sizing calculations, creating, compiling and maintenance of cable and cable racking schedules. Generation, compilation and maintenance of electrical equipment and instrument lists. Review, evaluation and selection recommendations for vendor equipment. Review of vendor certified documentation (drawings, data sheets, manuals, etc.) and responsibility for the dissemination of vendor information to discipline engineers / drafting resources for interface checking. Provide material quantity take-offs, as and when required. Assist with quality assurance and expediting of equipment procured. Assist with on-site engineering, commissioning and administration activities. Database management. Conduct literature surveys. Prepare and issue meeting minutes as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Tertiary level qualification in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. More than three years relevant experience post graduating. South African Citizen or Permanent Resident Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables. Demonstrate proficiency with the Microsoft suite of software packages, including Word, Excel, Access and Power Point. Demonstrate ability to and/or proficiency in the use of specific proprietary software packages relevant to the Engineering discipline (AutoCad, DesSoft, EPLAN, ETAP, COMOS, Relux, etc.). Well-developed written and verbal communication skills Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently in a team and knowledge sharing environment. Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and a practical approach to solving engineering problems. Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.
