An opportunity for an experienced and skilled ELECTRICAL WORKSHOP MANAGER is required for permanent employment based in Newcastle, to lead and oversee the operations of the electrical workshop. The successful candidate will manage a team of technicians and ensure the efficient and high-quality repair and maintenance of electrical armatures, coils, and other components used in electric motors, generators, and transformers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision and Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the electrical workshop to ensure efficiency and productivity.
- Manage and supervise a team of armature winders, technicians, and other workshop staff.
- Schedule and assign tasks to team members based on their skills and project requirements.
Technical Oversight:
- Ensure that all armature winding and electrical repair work is carried out to high standards of quality and safety.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with electrical components and machinery.
- Provide technical guidance and support to workshop staff.
Quality Control:
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure all work meets industry standards and customer specifications.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it is free from defects and operates correctly.
Customer Service:
- Liaise with customers to understand their requirements and provide technical advice and solutions.
- Prepare quotations and manage the financial aspects of repair and maintenance projects.
- Ensure timely completion of projects and maintain strong customer relationships.
Inventory and Supplies Management:
- Manage inventory levels of materials and components needed for armature winding and electrical repairs.
- Order and procure necessary supplies, tools, and equipment for the workshop.
Health and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the workshop.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Promote a culture of safety among workshop staff.
Training and Development:
- Identify training needs and provide opportunities for skill development and professional growth of workshop staff.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including repair logs, inventory records, and customer communications.
- Prepare regular reports on workshop performance, including productivity, quality, and financial metrics.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Extensive experience in armature winding and electrical repairs.
- Strong technical knowledge of electric motors, generators, transformers, and related components.
- Proven managerial and supervisory skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in using workshop management software and tools.
- Relevant technical qualification or certification in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Valid drivers license; a Code 14 license is an advantage.
