DAYBREAK FOODS requires the services of a suitably qualified, well-motivated and results driven candidate that will plan, coordinate and oversee the technical and engineering activities of the abattoirs. This individual will oversee daily plant engineering and maintenance activities, ensuring cost controls and spending is within budget Plan and oversee the efficient running of engineering projects, providing supervision and guidance to the team. Provide and oversee engineering services, infrastructure and adequate equipment to meet operational goals. Oversee daily plant engineering/maintenance activities, ensuring sufficient resourcing of engineering department and production support. Manage, implement and contribute to continuous improvement and asset optimization initiatives and projects for engineering processes, outlining clear strategic engineering objectives and engineering legal framework. Report to engineering department on plant performance, improvement opportunities and cost cutting measures. Prepare annual engineering Opex & Capex budget, ensuring budget controls, cost management, cost trends analysis. Manage and clearly define a preventative maintenance strategy and prepare downtime reports for maintenance department Assume General Machinery Regulation 2.1 duties as stipulated in Occupational Health & Safety Act, 1993 and incorporated standard. Expedite studies and test-work to verify supplier claims about products and equipment they supply Offer technical support to procurement department, liaise with contractors/suppliers and evaluate supplier quotes Conduct all site inspections and equipment condition monitoring, recommending to production department the need to replace machinery and equipment. Ensure that all programmable logic controllers' hardware, software are working and compliant Oversee and ensure training and mentoring of all artisans and technicians with a viable succession plan in place. Grade 12 (Matric) B.Sc. or B.Tech Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical) Government Certificate of Competence (Advantageous Minimum of 10 years post engineering qualification experience with 3 years in management
