Drake International (South Africa) Responsibilities: Understand the project/product and its requirements. Gather first-hand information from sites, warehouses, or other venues Conduct research to obtain data on labour costs, materials, production times etc. Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors. Negotiate better pricing from suppliers when needed. Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitions etc.). Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.) Plan and record variable costs (e.g., purchases of raw material and operations costs). Audit all costing templates, currently in place and ensure the accuracy thereof. Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions. Work Closely with the Exec Manager on Key Growth Objectives and strategic costings Ensure day to day Developments (Dev's) received from Design Department is costed accurately. Coordinate the workflow - Dev enquiries, telephonic, email and S/Rep walk-ins. Assist with special projects and strategic pricing thereof. Ensure that the department is kept up to date with raw material price increases from Procurement. Prepare quotations and assist with enquiries of all imported goods. Create, update and maintain inventory codes on internal system Requirements and Qualifications: · Qualification, experience, and background in the financial sector extremely advantageous · Matric certificate or any certificate equivalent to NSC certificate and Certified Professional Estimator · 3 years progressive experience in the same or similar position in a manufacturing/distribution organization · Strong Administrative knowledge and Skills, Punctual & Highly Organized · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Attention to detail - Crucial · Computer Skills - Imperative, Excel, Microsoft / Office 365 applications, Paradigm training will be provided · Able to work independently Skills: · Proven experience as estimator or similar position · Familiarity with financial and project management principles · In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas · Strong math and IT ability with an analytical mindset · Proficient in relevant software · Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities · Thoroughness and reliability · Excellent organizational skills Active listening.
