Our client, is seeking an Executive Director: Space Science. This key leadership role, is part of the Executive Committee. The ideal candidate will: - Provide strategic leadership for the Space Science division - Drive research, development, and commercialization of space technologies - Ensure financial sustainability and operational excellence - Engage in high-level stakeholder management - Embody the organization's professional and ethical values The role offers a unique opportunity to shape national space science initiatives and bring innovative solutions to market, contributing to the country's space-related activities and benefiting its citizens. Leadership and Strategy: Provide visionary leadership for the Space Science division Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with SANSA's mandate Drive innovation and excellence in space science research and technology Financial Management: Ensure financial sustainability of the division Manage budgets and resources effectively Capability Development: Foster the growth of scientific and technological capabilities within the division Promote skill development and capacity building Research and Development: Lead research initiatives in space science Oversee the development of new technologies and knowledge solutions Commercialization: Identify market opportunities for SANSA's scientific and technological innovations Drive the commercialization of products and services Stakeholder Engagement: Manage high-level relationships with stakeholders in the public and private sectors Foster collaborations with relevant local and international partners Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the Space Science division Ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness Governance: Uphold and implement good governance practices Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies Performance Management: Set and monitor performance targets for the division Drive a culture of high performance and accountability Qualifications and Requirements: Advanced degree in Space Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field Extensive experience in space science research and technology development Proven track record in executive leadership roles Strong understanding of the space industry and market trends Excellent strategic thinking and planning skills Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and commercialization Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills Experience in managing complex scientific projects and teams Personal Attributes: Visionary leader with a passion for space science and technology Strong ethical values and professional integrity Ability to act as a role model for SANSA's values and purpose Apply Now
