Job description:Ensure building design and construction comply with local and international fire safety regulations and standards, staying up-to-date with evolving fire safety codes to guarantee compliance and occupant safety
Develop performance-based design approaches, using advanced modelling and simulation tools to assess fire scenarios and demonstrate that proposed solutions achieve equivalent or superior safety levels compared to prescriptive requirements
Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other professionals to integrate fire safety measures into building designs, analyzing building layout and occupancy to devise strategies aligning with applicable codes and standards
Conduct thorough fire risk assessments to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities within buildings, evaluating fire load, ignition sources, occupancy type, and means of escape to determine the level of risk
Incorporate fire-resistant materials, establish safe evacuation routes, and implement active and passive fire protection systems during the design stage
Propose risk mitigation measures based on findings, including installing fire suppression systems, designing compartmentalized spaces, and enhancing emergency communication systems
Research and develop innovative fire protection systems, advancing technologies such as sprinkler systems and smoke management systems to enhance occupant safety and minimize property damage, operational downtime, and environmental impacts
Provide support during the construction phase, conducting regular inspections, site visits, and coordinating with contractors to ensure approved fire safety measures are correctly implemented and deviations promptly addressed
Skills & Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire engineering or fire safety consulting, particularly in large-scale building projects
Proven track record of working from the conception phase through to project completion
Comprehensive understanding of fire behavior, fire protection systems, and fire dynamics
Proficiency in advanced modeling and simulation tools for performance-based design
Experience with fire risk assessments and the implementation of mitigation measures
Expertise in designing and implementing both active and passive fire protection systems
Qualification:Ndip / BSc/ BEng/ BTech in Mechanical Engineering
