We are seeking a well qualified, skilled and experienced Fitter and Turner (Machinist) to join our team based in Olifantsfontein South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to quality and safety. This role involves operating precision machinery, performing under pressure in a production environment, and ensuring all work meet stringent quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Machining and Fabrication: Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, and other precision tools to manufacture axle and related components. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough inspections and quality checks to ensure all parts meet industry standards and specifications. Maintain accurate records of inspection results and work performed. Assembly: Assemble mechanical components to form completed axles. Test assembled axles to ensure they function correctly and meet performance requirements. Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries. Ensure all work complies with industry regulations and standards. Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in manufacturing processes and implement effective solutions. Stay updated with new techniques and tools in the field and participate in training programs. Important Skills: Technical Proficiency: Expertise in operating lathes, milling machines, and other precision machinery. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints. Skilled in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Mechanical Aptitude: Experience in assembling and disassembling mechanical components. Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues efficiently. Understanding of different metals and materials used in manufacturing. Quality Control: Attention to detail to ensure all parts meet the required specifications and quality standards. Conduct thorough inspections and quality checks. Safety Awareness: Familiarity with workplace safety regulations and practices. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions. Innovative thinking to improve processes and reduce downtime.
