The Brand - Canopy by Hilton The Property An exciting opportunity has arisen for a General Manager at the highly anticipated opening Canopy by Hilton Cape Town Longkloof. Canopy by Hilton launched in 2014 to appeal to travelers seeking locally inspired stays and wishing to immerse themselves in the culture and history of local neighborhoods. It currently operates in nine destinations around the world with more than 35 properties in the pipeline, aiming to guarantee travelers unique and authentic experiences. With 150 keys and a standout restaurant and bar, The Canopy by Hilton Cape Town Longkloof is located in the heart of Cape Town on the vibrant Kloof Street. This bustling thoroughfare known for its rich history, diverse food and drink scene, thriving art and culture, unique shopping options, and outdoor activities will make this an exciting opening, allowing the General Manager to make their mark and bring to life the music, sounds and smells of the area. The Role This exciting General Manager position will be responsible for managing the hotel, Hotel Management team, and hotel targets to deliver an excellent Guest and Team Member experience while managing profitability and meeting our Owners expectations. What will I be doing? Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: - Set-up and create the Canopy by Hilton Cape Town Longkloof. Activate the brand, create and inject energy, build experience to be part of the Longkloof neighbourhood. Recruit and lead the team which can achieve this and want to be part of the future fame of this hotel. - Once opened, manage ongoing profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue, guest satisfaction and Team Member engagement goals are met and exceeded - Lead in all key property issues including capital projects and customer service - Ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of the hotel, owner and Hilton - Deliver achievable hotel budgets, and set other short- and long- term strategic goals for the property - Solid people leadership and retention of talent with the ability to bring a team together on a journey, instilling the Hilton culture and values - Lead in all aspects of business planning - Comply with and exceed Hilton Brand Service Standards - Ensure costs are controlled and revenue opportunities are effectively sourced and delivered - Manage and develop the Hotel Executive team to ensure career progression and effective succession planning within Hilton - Hold regular briefings and communication meetings with the HOD team - Respond to audits to ensure continual improvement is achieved What are we looking for? The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills with a strong focus on Owner relations and driving commercial impact, guest experience and Team Member engagement. Enthusiastic and passionate, you will have current experience as a General Manager with a lifestyle hotel brand and ideally with hotel openings experience. A General Manager serving Hilton brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow: - An Established GM/HM with Hilton experience ideally in a Lifestyle brand - ability to bring a lifestyle brand to life and position within a vibrant environment - An innovator, ability to demonstrate entrepreneurial capability. - Experience in hotel openings - Strong ability to collaborate and foster networks and relationships, within the local community, owners, contractors and corporate must be highly visible. - Deliver innovative commercial opportunities with experience in increasing profitability especially in the corporate/leisure business - Exceptional people leadership and retention of talent with the ability to bring a team together on a journey and instilling the Hilton culture and values - Exceptional stakeholder/owner relations experience - Ability to show resilience, judgement and leadership - Experience managing budgets, revenue proposals, and forecasting results in a similar sized property - In-depth knowledge of the hotel/leisure/service sector - Degree or diploma in Hotel Management or equivalent - Please note, local package provided What is it like working for Hilton?
