A growing foundry, based in Springs, is seeking an exceptional Green Sand Manager/Metallurgist to join our team Sand Preparation and Quality Control: - Oversee the preparation of greensand, ensuring proper mixing and conditioning. - Monitor and control sand properties such as moisture content, clay content, and permeability. - Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure sand consistency. 2. Process Optimization: - Analyze and optimize greensand processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste. - Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives. 3. Equipment Maintenance: - Ensure all greensand processing equipment is properly maintained and functioning. - Coordinate regular maintenance schedules and troubleshoot any equipment issues. 4. Team Management: - Supervise and train greensand team members. - Assign tasks and monitor performance, providing feedback and support as needed. 5. Health and Safety Compliance: - Ensure all operations comply with health and safety regulations. - Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions. 6. Inventory Management: - Manage the inventory of raw materials used in greensand production. - Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of materials. 7. Reporting and Documentation: - Maintain accurate records of greensand production, quality control results, and equipment maintenance. - Prepare and submit regular reports to upper management. Matric Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field Additional certifications or training in foundry technology advantageous Several years of experience in foundry operations, specifically with greensand processes Previous supervisory or managerial experience Strong understanding of greensand properties and foundry processes. Proficiency in using foundry equipment and quality control instruments. Ability to interact with different departments and external suppliers. In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to foundry operations. Ability to analyse data and implement process improvements.
