Reference: PE000206-JD-1 Our client is a brand-leading Food Services Group with franchised establishments in the Eastern Cape with stores in Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage, Jeffrey's Bay, Grahamstown, East London, Queenstown and King Williamstown. Due to further dynamic development, the company seeks to appoint an ethical, professional and committed individual to take up the position of Industrial Relations Officer . This position will be based in Port Elizabeth/ Gqeberha. Commencement date: September / October 2024. YOUR FUTURE ROLE: The IR Practitioner will provide advice to managers and employees regarding the prevention and resolution of grievances, union consultation, performance management processes, employment legislation, and award provisions. RESPONSIBILITIES: Represent the company at the CCMA at conciliations and arbitrations in disputes concerning alleged unfair dismissals and unfair labour practices. Trains management on the proper implementation of the disciplinary, grievance, poor performance and incapacity procedures. Renders management advice and interventions to promote a stable labour relations business environment. Conducts regular IR risks assessments and proposes management solutions. Investigates labour disputes upon request to ensure compliance with labour legislation. Promotes use of fact-finding, mediation, conciliation, and advisory services to prevent or resolve labour disputes. Provide industrial relations expertise and operational support on a wide range of employment and industrial issues, Submits monthly IR report to Management. Acts as an advisor in communication structures Monitors and updates company procedures to ensure compliance with labour legislation. Does ad hoc projects as and when required. Investigating sick notes to ensure the authenticity of the documents and managing absenteeism. Handling grievances (formal and informal). Initiate and chair disciplinaries. Manages all union-related functions and conducts regular communication with union officials. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Diploma/ Degree in Industrial Relation/ Labour Law / NOF 6 IR relevant tertiary qualification. Minimum of 5 -7 years' experience in a similar position. Valid driver's license and own vehicle. Must be an SA citizen with clear criminal history. Proficient in MS Office. Strong written, verbal and electronic communication skills. Location: Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. Industry Sector: Human Resources Career Level: 5-7 years - DL on Paterson Scale Employment: Permanent, full-time E.E. / Non-EE: Strictly EE. Must be able to communicate confidently in isiXhosa and English Working Hours: Monday to Friday. 08h00 to 17h00. On-site. Must be willing to travel.
