Our manufacturing client based in Durban is looking for an Engineering Manager to join their team. The purpose of this role is to manage and lead the mechanical, electrical, C&I and project engineering resources on site in support of the site goals. Performance: To provide technical and management leadership to the engineering group (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Automation/Instrumentation). To continue the development of the Team's performance through changes in procedures, systems, standards, KPI's and working practices. Set site engineering standards in line with group policies. Capital Projects: Manage site projects team with a clear capital stage/gate process. Set site 5 year strategic capital plan with spend forecasting. Track and report spend vs budget on a monthly basis. Maintenance Engineering: To provide an efficient and progressive maintenance service to the site. Develop maintenance KPIs to track and improve performance. Develop site critical spares list and spares strategy. Develop site maintenance strategy balancing predictive/preventative and reactive maintenance tasks. Management & maintenance of forklift fleet. To Develop Manufacturing Excellence: Process optimisation for cost, quality, and efficiency. Development of robust and capable processes and products. Introduction and development of new techniques for manufacturing improvement - lean manufacturing, statistical methods. Management of Regulatory Programmes: Develop and implement programmes to ensure compliance with group and country regulatory requirements and to improve site HSE performance. Completion of insurance audit findings within agreed timelines. Maintenance Strategy: Development of the site engineering capability to fit with future business needs, balancing in-house and outsourced resources to meet business needs. Introduction of new processing technologies. Benchmarking of technology and performance for overall benefit. Site Capex: Develop a capital programme that balances high return projects with essential H&S, Quality and infra-structure requirements. Manage CAPEX spend and report on spend vs budget with forecasting to aid cash flow. Network and develop external links to keep the business informed on the development of new technologies Team leadership: Role model behaviours designed to challenge, support and align engineering teams with operational and commercial customers. Lead sitewide initiatives in pursuit of the company's strategy/roadmap. Key member of Site Leadership Team developing site goals in support of company's vision and the local strategy. Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree. GMR Certification - advantageous Six Sigma Black Belt Certification - advantageous. Experience within a chemical manufacturing environment. Experience working with automated process control systems. Experience in effectively managing and developing teams. Proven experience in the management of major capital projects. Ideal candidate would be pro-active, results driven, methodical and a team player.
